You can volunteer from the safety and comfort of your own home!!!
CONTACT Altoona’s training program for new volunteers prepares you for telephone duty on our Helpline. It focuses on self-awareness, listening skills and knowledge of the human service resources of Blair County.
The program is an extensive series of classroom activities, plus three 4-hour apprenticeships under the supervision of experienced telephone volunteers or staff. It is rewarding and offers opportunities for personal and professional growth and a way to give meaningful community service.
Please join us April 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th and 15th from 5pm-8pm! Each training class covers different topics and contains presentations from several other local agencies. Please note that you must attend all training classes to begin apprenticeships. Call 814-946-0531 today – don’t delay!
Training is free with a one year commitment of 8 hours a month.
